Making Connections to problem solving

LI: To explore problem solving

Today we had bad connection to the internet, instead of using the internet we went old school and used paper. We made Tangrams from a piece of A4 paper and a pair of scissors. We didn't read our instructions this time as we had to listen carefully to each step. A Tangram is a square cut into seven pieces which can be arranged to make other shapes.  Did you know it is an ancient Chinese puzzle? The hardest part was to make a square with all the 7 shapes. We had to problem solve to put the shapes together to make the different animals.  We collaborated very well together.

Math game

LI: To practice Defining Math's Vocabulary 

To help us practise the meaning of maths words. Mrs Anderson taught us a game called maths word challenge. I worked with Lily and RJ on this game.  To play the game 2 players found a word from the maths word game,  then had to give a clue to the person trying to  figure out the math word who was sitting with their back to the other players.

LI: To analysis the data and set goals.

 To help us set learning goals this year we analysed our blog post data over time. To achieve my goal of 80 post by the end of this year I need to make sure i am publishing 3 posts each week. 

Maths Strategy

LI: To find the most efficient strategy to answer the question

This week our group practiced finding the answer to written math questions. To do this we needed to first find the numbers we were working with. We decided the most efficient strategy was to use our times table knowledge. Being able to find how many groups of a number made this strategy efficient. 

Numerator & Denominator

LI: Share Equally into groups using our times tables.

In this DLO it explains what the Numerator and the Denominator are and it also shows how this connects or links up with our times tables to solve fractions.

Maths

L.I   To solve Addition questions and attempt subtraction using Place Value on a number line

On Monday we were learning place value using the number line. we had to fill in the number line with the missing numbers. Then we had to 2 task to do which was We had to use place value to solve the math equation but using the a number line.

Basic facts/Prodigy/Prototech

Basic facts: Basic facts help me learn my Addition, Subtraction,Division it also helps when some one tells me a math equation then i  could say the answer fast.

Prototech: Prototech helps me  think of the right Answer but if we get a wrong answer  it will help us on  what we did to work on.

Prodigy: Prodigy is a fun way for use to learn: Subtraction, Addition, Multiplication, and Division. And more like how many vertices on a square or How a graph works.

Maths

Today for maths we used the snag golf equipment, What we did with the snag golf equipment was to had to write in your Maths book a Tally chart that says MISS,NEAR,HIT, Then you needed  to get a partner then your partner has to tally like if i hit the target is when you draw one line one hit it goes together with the other two.

LI: To explore vocabulary needed to future investigations.

Today in maths I learnt how to make a graph by rolling a die 100 times.We had to tally how many times a number was rolled and me and my partner learnt how to make a good title for a graph and also how to write a  labels and data.

Measurement

This week we leaned about Measurement, We also had to do a Google slide, On a vocab about what Vertical Horizontal length Estimate Width. 

Data/Graph

LI: To display data on a graph to make generalisation about data.

This week of Term 1 we were learning about graphs and data.  We had gotten into groups of 5-6. We created graphs that our teachers have recorded down by asking questions.

What is Included in A Graph:

1) Title - Shows what the graph is about
2) Labels - The labels are on the Horizontal and Vertical Axis, The Vertical axis  is the amount and the horizontal is what the graph is.
3) Data - What we use to make the graph.

Place value

LI: to identify the values of individual numerals.
This week for math we did place value we had to look at numbers 100, 10, 1 , 1000, 100. We uesd the place value abacus. Then i put the blue boxes in the place value abacus after that i had to put the Numbers in the place value boxes.

Exchanging 10 dollar notes.

LI: to exchange ten $1 notes for one $10 note.

This week for math we had to exchange 10 1 dollar notes into a full 10 dollar note. The must do we had to do was that we have to make a video on showing how to exchange 10 1 dollar notes into a full 10 dollar note. Then we had to show the video to the teacher then if they say good then you can blog it.

Clock

LI: to tell the time on an analogue clock

This week for math we had to make a poster about how to tell time. Then we had to go on the link our teacher putted on the class site page maths. Then we had to put in the number we want then save the image to out on the poster then you had to tell how to tell that time.

Animations

LI: to replace bundles of objects with an object representing a certain amount.

This week for math we had to make a exchange animation with objects. Then we had to to make 3 animations . The numbers i did was 10 , 15 , 24. Then we had to use different objects and different numbers to.

Bundling

 LI: to count bundle objects for counting.

 This week for math Mr Wong made a google docs then we had to to get ice block sticks then on the side of the grid says what number to for example  i need to do 45 then i need to grab 45 ice block sticks then you need to take a photo of it then you had to do it in 2 , 3 , 5, 10 then when you are done you need to do rest of it.

Divisions

This week for maths we had to make a animations talking about what division is. Then we had to explaining about what divisions by using shapes like sqears and circle.

This week for math we had to make a flip grid talking about what is multiplication is then we had to record it in a quiet place and then we had to blog it. This we had to a a google sheet.

Basic facts

  

This week for math we had to do a google sheet on basic facts up to 5,10,20 we had to click the button that says it. We cant do up to 100 because it is to hard. Then we had to do the addition box and subtraction. every Group had a box limit that was 2 boxes 4 boxes and 5 boxes. Then we had to dont worry about mistakes.

This week for math we had to do a google sheet that our teacher made their were adding 10 and your number bonds to 5 and 10 then we had to make a Dlo talking about what you did.
