Mood Board

Our focus for inquiry is Toys and machines. this also connects to the Mars landing, which was helped by these rovers seen above. The mars landing rovers were created to help investigate a planet that has not been searched. This mood board is to help us have an idea of what we are making by looking at different pictures and putting them onto a mood board., we are rubber band powered rovers.

We enjoyed this task because it helped us to have a good understanding of what we are making and how  we can make them successful.

Inquiry

LI: To decide which political party will get your vote by making an informed choice

This week we decided which political party I would vote for I read a summary of the policies each party wants to introduce should they win the election and the right to form a government to run NZ. Doing this allowed me to make an informed decision.

If I was 18 I would vote for National because they have caring for animals. This means if Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi .Won the election in my electorate Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi would be our member of parliament and Jacinda Ardern ardern would become the Prime Minister.

Tell us something you found interesting and why.

Making Connections to problem solving

LI: To explore problem solving

Today we had bad connection to the internet, instead of using the internet we went old school and used paper. We made Tangrams from a piece of A4 paper and a pair of scissors. We didn't read our instructions this time as we had to listen carefully to each step. A Tangram is a square cut into seven pieces which can be arranged to make other shapes.  Did you know it is an ancient Chinese puzzle? The hardest part was to make a square with all the 7 shapes. We had to problem solve to put the shapes together to make the different animals.  We collaborated very well together.

Persicope

LI: To explain how a Periscope work.

Mr Johnston came and taught us what Persicopes are, how they are used and who uses them. We found out that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. That means if the light hits the mirror at a 45 degree it reflect the light back at 45 degree. It was fun doing this activity.

Light Facts

LI: to share 5 facts about light that we find interesting.

We worked collaboratively to create a DLO that shows facts about light. One fact that interests me is did you know that the most common light is white light. White light is the only light that is visible to the eye. White light is also made up of the colours of the rainbow because white light is made of the rainbow.
